Improve Chipping & Pitching Without Any Practice – Troughs and Hills Matter (Ep.8)
I learned this concept from the great Dave Pelz – Better shot selection in terms of where you’re choosing to land the ball will improve your chances of success. Always try to land pitch shots into troughs and avoid hills…here’s why.
Always try to land your chips and pitches in troughs (low areas) rather than hills (high areas). This alone increases the chances of hitting your short shots the correct distance.
In both cases, landing the ball perfectly on your spot yields a good result. With hills, short shots come up even shorter and long shots go much longer. The margin for error is super narrow.
With troughs, shorter shots bounce further and longer shots bounce shorter…meaning you can hit the ball too short or too far in the air and things still work out well.
